Hi, I'm Jo Smale
a registered Nutritional Therapist. I work with busy mums who are exhausted and overwhelmed.
Whether you’ve been struggling with increasing your energy levels, reaching your happy weight or beating the anxiety, let me help you regain your health and wellbeing.
and I firmly believe that, in order to take care of others, it's vital you take care of yourself. I am here to support and motivate you to implement lasting changes to your diet and lifestyle so you feel happier, healthier and more balanced, enabling you to function at your best, even when time is an issue.
I've been there, I know how amazing it is, but also how challenging it can be...
My mission is to empower mums to transform from the inside out and be the best version of themselves
How did I get here?
I have always been fascinated by how the body works and would consider myself a real foodie so when I moved abroad to see what the expat lifestyle had in store, I decided to retrain as a nutritional therapist.
But it was my fertility journey that really opened my eyes to the power of nutrition after experiencing repeated miscarriages. I was told that ‘it is just bad luck as 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage’.
However, I wasn’t willing to accept this and decided to carry out my own investigation in an attempt to find some answers. After working with a nutritional therapist and carrying out some functional tests, I discovered that my thyroid was the root cause. Using my new-found knowledge, I made changes to my diet and lifestyle and experienced first-hand just how powerful nutritional therapy can be. I am now a mum of two, based in Luxembourg, and I help other women to achieve their health goals so they can feel their best.
Qualifications & Affiliations
I trained at the British College of Nutrition & Health (BCNH), a leading provider of nutrition education in the UK and, after five years of study, I’m now also a member of the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT) and registered with the Complimentary Healthcare Council (CNHC). As part of my continued professional development, I've also completed the Making Babies Naturally 12 month mentorship programme with The Fertility Nutrition Centre.
My Approach
Personalised
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I provide one-to-one consultations that focus on each client as a unique individual. If you embark on this journey with me, I will analyse your body systems as well as your environmental and emotional factors (not just your symptoms) to find the root cause of your health concerns, and together, we will identify any imbalances and deficiencies. I will help you to understand your body and why you may not feel your best before creating your own personalised diet and lifestyle plan so that you can take control of your own health
Achievable
I provide achievable plans based on a thorough understanding of what works for you and your lifestyle. I believe it must be enjoyable and that small, manageable steps are more effective than drastic changes which are not sustainable long term.
Supportive
I pride myself on the ability to build honest, open and transparent relationships in a judgement-free environment. If you embark on one of my programmes, I will provide you with support and motivation to achieve your health goals.
Grounded
My advice is grounded in the latest scientific and medical research. I am constantly training and learning to build on my skills and expertise in order to give you the best possible guidance.
